Most copper bottles sold online aren't. They're steel or aluminium with a copper skin, or copper with a clear lacquer sprayed inside so it stays shiny in photos. Both defeat the point, the water never touches copper at all.
Take a magnet to this one and it falls off. Shine a torch inside and it's the same warm brown as the outside, all the way down. No lining, no plating, no seam. Just copper.

Every dimple is a hammer strike, so no two bottles match. It's not decoration, the texture is what gives the bottle its grip when your hands are wet, and it's why it sits in your palm instead of skating off the desk.

About the green.
Copper changes colour. It goes darker, sometimes with a green cast, and the first time it happens people think they've broken something. They haven't, it's oxidation, the same thing that turns rooftops green, and it wipes off. Half a lemon, a pinch of salt, thirty seconds of rubbing, rinse. Back to bright. Or leave it, if you like the way it ages. Plenty do.
One rule, and it matters.
Still water only. No juice, no squash, no fizzy drinks, no coffee, no milk. Acid pulls copper into the liquid much faster than water does, and that's the one way to get this wrong. Want lemon in the morning? Pour the water first, then squeeze.
Empty it and refill it daily. Don't leave water standing in it for days.

Q: How can I tell if a copper bottle is real copper?
Three checks: Hold a magnet to it, copper is not magnetic, so if it sticks, there is steel underneath. Look inside with a torch: real copper is the same warm colour inside as out. And check the weight, an 800ml solid copper bottle sits around 300g, noticeably heavier than a plated one.
Q: How long should water sit in a copper bottle?
Most people fill it at night and drink it in the morning (6 to 8 hours). Do not leave water in it for days at a stretch, copper transfers into water slowly over time. Empty it, rinse it, refill it daily.
Q: Do copper bottles turn green?
The outside develops a patina, a darker, sometimes greenish tone, as copper reacts naturally with air. It is normal and reversible. Half a lemon and a spoon of salt, rubbed over the outside and rinsed, brings the shine straight back.
Q: Can I put lemon water, juice or coffee in it?
No, still water only. Acidic drinks pull copper into liquid far faster than water does. If you want lemon, squeeze it into the glass after you pour.
Q: Is it dishwasher safe?
No. Dishwasher heat and detergent strip the finish. Rinse with warm water after use, and do a lemon-and-salt clean once a week.

Is it safe to drink from a copper bottle?
Yes, when used correctly. Our bottles are made from 100% pure copper with no lining, lacquer, or coating. The traditional Ayurvedic practice of drinking copper stored water (known as Tamra Jal) has been used for centuries. Scientific studies have shown copper significantly reduces harmful bacteria in stored water. Use for plain still water only; avoid acidic liquids in copper.
What sizes are available for the copper bottle?
Our hand-hammered copper bottles are available in three sizes: 500ml (travel and children), 800ml (our most popular everyday size), and 950ml (gym and all-day hydration). All are leak-proof, BPA-free, and eco-friendly.
How do I clean and maintain my copper bottle?
Clean weekly by rinsing with a mixture of warm water, a tablespoon of lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Shake well, leave for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with plain water. Do NOT place your copper bottle in a dishwasher. The natural darkening (patina) that develops over time is normal; it is a sign of genuine pure copper and is not harmful.
Can I put any liquid in the copper bottle?
We recommend using your copper bottle for still water only. Avoid storing acidic liquids such as lemon juice, fruit juices, milk, or carbonated drinks. For the traditional Tamra Jal practice, fill with water overnight and drink first thing in the morning.
Does a copper bottle keep water hot or cold like a flask?
No. Unlike an insulated stainless steel flask, a solid copper bottle does not have vacuum insulation, so it does not keep drinks hot or cold for extended periods. It is designed for the traditional practice of storing water at room temperature.
Can I put hot water or hot beverages in it?
We recommend room-temperature or cool water only. Very hot liquids are not recommended, as copper conducts heat quickly and the bottle exterior can become hot to the touch.
Is the copper bottle covered by a warranty?
Each bottle is quality-checked before dispatch. If you receive a bottle with a manufacturing fault, contact us at elvaroot2@gmail.com within 30 days of delivery for a replacement or refund, in line with our returns policy.
Will the outside of the bottle tarnish or change colour?
Yes, the exterior may naturally darken over time with handling and air exposure; this is a normal characteristic of pure copper and does not affect safety. It can be gently polished with a copper cleaner if you prefer a brighter finish.
